Located on 4 acres in the heart of the Village of Ellsworth, on the west shore of Ellsworth Lake, part of the Chain O’ Lakes. The Park, which is build on the former IDC industrial site, was completed October 1, 2009 with the help of a NRTF Grant. It features Michigan’s largest outdoor public Archery Range home of the annual Archery Tournament, a pavilion, restrooms/multipurpose building, playground area, fishing pier, boat dock, walking paths/observation deck, Labyrinth, and sledding hill.The pavilion is a 50’ X 80’ structure that can be used for roller blading, ice skating, and social gatherings. The pathway is 1.3 miles in length with an observation deck extending into Ellsworth Lake. The Labyrinth is one of, if not the largest, Labyrinth in the Northern Midwest.
Revenue derived from oil, gas and mineral production from state-owned lands provides funding for this public recreation site. Funding is made possible thru a grant provided by the National Resource Trust Fund, Mich DNR&E.
The Ellsworth River Park is located on Ellsworth Lake across from the Wooden Shoe Campground. It’s lovely sandy beach, boat launch and facilities are open to the public.
