VILLAGE OF ELLSWORTH COUNCIL MINUTES

REGULAR MEETING

BANKS TOWNSHIP HALL

OCTOBER 9, 2023

 

 

Present: Campbell, A. Drenth, Sowers, Spearing, McCallum, Potter and M. Drenth

 

Absent: Dhillon

 

Others:  Chief Byrd, Mike Bennett

 

Meeting called to order by Campbell at 7:00pm

 

  1. Motion by Spearing, Sowers to accept the regular minutes as presented. CARRIED 5-0
  2. Motion by McCallum, Campbell to add an action item to approve a grant application. CARRIED 5-0

 

PUBLIC INPUT:  Mike Bennett submitted an application for the vacant trustee position.

Spearing, Campbell and M. Drenth have met with both State Representative Roth and State Senator DeMoose in an effort to seek additional funding for our Wastewater project and also funding for repairs/replacement of our current wells. They have also met the new consultant, Ken Lane from Beckett & Raeder.

 

DEPARMENTAL REPORTS: 

 

  1. Police: Chief Byrd stated the person responsible for the recycling tag has been found.  Also, all the radar signs are functioning properly.
  2. DPW: N/A
  3. Streets: Reith Riley will have our paving done this fall.
  4. Parks/Recreation: Wooden Shoe exceeded expectations this season.  Discussed playground equipment.
  5. Planning Commission: N/A
  6. DDA: Working on Trunk or Treat event.  Will be held October 31, 2023, between the hours of 5:00:pm to 6:30pm.

 

DISCUSSION:

 

  1. Paddle Antrim – A great success this year.
  2. Wastewater project – Moving forward. There has been a substantial price increase for the project.
  3. Fall Color Cruise along the Breezeway – Weather has certainly been a factor. Have had both sunshine and rain.
  4. ADA compliancy for Village Website – Discussion followed.
  5. Trustee Vacancy – Accepting applications through November 6, 2023.

  1. Motion by Spearing, McCallum to set Halloween Hours from 5:pm to 8:00pm. CARRIED 5-0

 

  1. Motion by Sowers, A. Drenth to pay the bills. CARRIED 5-0

 

  1. Motion by Sowers, Spearing to approve a grant application to Rotary Charities for funding to help  the Village draw up a plan that will guide us in making plans to update various parks within the Village. CARRIED 5-0

 

  1. Motion by McCallum, Campbell to adjourn at 7:55pm. CARRIED 5-0
