REGULAR MEETING

BANKS TOWNSHIP HALL

NOVEMBER 8, 2021

 

 

Present: Campbell, Boss, Sowers, Spearing, McCallum, Palajac, Stewart and Drenth

 

Absent: Potter

 

Others:  Police Chief McLean, Dave McLean and Mike Bennett

 

Meeting called to order by Campbell at 7:00 PM

 

  1. Motion by Boss, Palajac to accept October 11, 2021, regular minutes as presented. CARRIED 7-0

 

PUBLIC INPUT: Bennett was present to discuss jake braking within the Village limits.

 

DEPARMENTAL REPORTS: 

 

  1. Police:  Chief McLean submitted monthly report.  Is also working on a grant proposal regarding the purchase of weapons for the department.

 

  1. DPW:  Water reliability study is two thirds completed.

 

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

  1. Planning Commission:  Did not meet last month.

 

 

DISCUSSION:

 

  1. Update from GFA (Jennifer Hodges) on Wastewater System – Application to be filed with the UDSA by the first of the year.
  2. State of Community Meeting Township Hall – Scheduled for January 12, 2022
  3. Farmers Market – Done for the season.
  4. Proposed Noise Ordinance – Cannot create ordinance against jake braking. Will have to be addressed under a general noise ordinance. Chief McLean is working on writing the ordinance to be approved by the Council and submitted to the attorney.
  5. Wooden Shoe Holiday Fest – The Community Square will be decorated for the holidays.
  6. Decorating for the Community Christmas Tree – An individual has been contacted to do the decorating of the tree.
  7. Senior Citizen Housing in Ellsworth – There are currently two different projects being considered.
  8. DDA – The Rotary Charities of Traverse City has recently awarded the DDA a grant in the amount of $6,000.00.
