REGULAR MEETING

Present: Campbell, Dhillon, A. Drenth, Sowers, McCallum, Bennett, Potter, and M. Drenth

Meeting called to order by Campbell at 7:00pm

 

  1. Motion by McCallum, Sowers to accept the regular minutes of June 10, 2024, as presented. CARRIED 6-0

1a.  Motion by Campbell, Sowers to amend the agenda to include discussion regarding overnight docking at Community Park.  CARRIED 6-0

 

PUBLIC INPUT: Stacey Truesdall is a candidate for Probate Court Judge.

Cathy Odom is a candidate for Antrim County Clerk.

Melissa Zelenak is representing Antrim County Conservation District.

Emma Fitzgerald is representing Michigan Green Communities.

Jerris Rubingh, Antrim County Commissioner – Gave a brief talk regarding Hemlock Tree Identification and the risk of the disease to trees in our area. Also informed us of several board openings within Antrim County.

Sandra Davies-Webster – Had questions regarding the funding for street improvements within the Village of Ellsworth. Also had questions regarding property that is owned by the Village of Ellsworth.

 

DEPARMENTAL REPORTS: 

 

  1. Police: N/A
  2. DPW: N/A
  3. Streets: N/A

 

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

  1. DDA: Reported on Concerts in the Square and on additional new signage they are working on.
  2. Planning Commission: July meeting rescheduled to August 15, 2024.
  3. Parks and Recreation: Wooden Shoe Campground has six new picnic tables. Discussion about a new director for the summer recreation program.

 

 

DISCUSSION:

 

  1. Paddle Antrim – Concert cost not to exceed $300.00. Kickoff with Music and food to be held at River Park September 12, 2024.
  2. 2024 Pig Roast – Went very well.
  3. Wastewater Project – On hold.
  4. Banks Township road millage – Will vote on road millage on the November 5, 2024 ballot.
  5. Audit Report – Handed out reports followed with a brief discussion afterward.
  6. Short Term Rentals – Mike Bennett is researching.
  7. Overnight docking at Community Park docks – There will be no overnight docking. A sign has been ordered and will be put in place as soon as it arrives.
