Spearing opened budget hearing at 7:00pm.

 

The Finance Committee presented the 2022-2023 budget. A brief discussion on the budget was held.

 

  1. Motion by Sowers, McCallum to adjourn at 7:05pm. CARRIED 5-0

 

  1. Motion by Palajac, Boss to go into closed session. CARRIED 5-0

Meeting called to order by Spearing at 7:30pm following closed session

 

  1. Motion by McCallum, Boss to accept the January 10, 2022, minutes as presented. CARRIED. 5-0

 

PUBLIC INPUT:

 

DEPARMENTAL REPORTS:

 

  1. Police: N/A

 

  1. DPW: N/A

 

  1. Streets: Discussed resurfacing a portion of the Atwood Road that is within the Village limits.

 

COMMITTEE REPORT:

 

  1. Planning Commission: Did not meet.

 

  1. Finance Committee: Presented budget for 2022-2023.

 

  1. DDA: Received grant and in the process of hiring a consultant.

.

 

DISCUSSION:

 

  1. 2022 Pig Roast/Fire Works: Pig Roast Committee will have their first meeting February 17, 2022, to begin planning for this year’s Pig Roast. Fireworks committee has started their fund raising for 2022.
  2. Wastewater Sewer Project: Waiting for ground to thaw to begin study regarding threatened and endangered species.
  3. Village Police Department:Officer McLean has informed the Village Council that her doctor has written a letter that states she is unable to drive for six months.  A copy of the letter was presented to the Village Council.  Upon the recommendation of a lawyer, she has been placed on an unpaid leave of absence for the six-month period.  The Village will look for a temporary officer for that time frame.  Trustee Palajac has spoken with the Antrim County Sheriff’s Department and they stated they will attempt to provide additional coverage to the Village during this time.
  4. Upcoming grant opportunities:Spearing is doing research for available grants that may be available to Ellsworth for future projects.

  1. Motion by Sowers, McCallum to approve contract with Antrim County for resurfacing Atwood Road from north Village limit to Church Street. CARRIED 5-0

 

  1. Motion by McCallum, Palajac to pay the bills. CARRIED 5-0
