Spearing opened budget hearing at 7:00 PM

The Finance Committee presented the 2024-2025 budget.  A short discussion on the budget was held.

Meeting closed at 7:10 PM

Meeting called to order by Spearing at 7:10 PM

  1. Motion by Bennett, McCallum to accept the January 08, 2024, Minutes as presented. CARRIED. 6-0

PUBLIC INPUT:  Discussed the need for security cameras at the recycling center.

 

DEPARMENTAL REPORTS:

 

  1. Police:Observing high traffic area around the Gold Nugget.
  2. DPW:N/A
  3. Streets:N/A

COMMITTEE REPORT

 

  1. Planning Commission:Did not meet.
  2. Finance Committee:2024-2025 Budget was discussed with Council members.
  3. DDA:The new logo/direction signs have been put in place.

 

DISCUSSION:

 

  1. 2024 Pig Roast – June 14 and 15 2024.
  2. Wastewater Sewer Project – No updates.
  3. Raise limit on Village credit card – More businesses are requesting credit card payments.
  4. Police facilities – Further discussion at March 2024 meeting.
  5. Seed Grant Award – Received a grant in the amount of $7,000.00 to hire a consultant to aid in the planning of ways to improve the parks in the Village.
  6. Movies in the Park – Met with SAFE members from Ellsworth Community School to discuss their plans for sponsoring several movies at the pavilion this summer.
  7. Consumers and Ellsworth Farmers Exchange – Need to talk with the manager of EFX about the way to proceed with requesting that Consumers put in new power lines on the EFX property.

  3. Motion by Sowers, A. Drenth to approve the budget amendments.CARRIED 6-0
  4. Motion bySowers, A. Drenth to send Antrim County Board of Commissioners a letter requesting that they install security cameras at the recycling center. CARRIED 6-0
  5. Motion by Dhillon, McCallum to pay the bills.CARRIED 6-0
  6. Motion by Sowers, A. Drenth to adjourn at 8:00 pm.CARRIED 6-0
