VILLAGE OF ELLSWORTH COUNCIL MINUTES
REGULAR MEETING
BANKS TOWNSHIP HALL
DECEMBER 13, 2021
Present: Campbell, Boss, Sowers, Spearing, Palajac and Drenth
Absent: Stewart, McCallum and Potter
Others: Police Chief McLean, Dave McLean, Dillon Sommer and Jerry Rasmussen
Meeting called to order by Campbell at 7:00 PM
- Motion by Palajac, Sowers to accept November 8, 2021, regular minutes as presented. CARRIED 5-0
PUBLIC INPUT: Dillon Sommer expressed his desire to purchase the former landfill property that the Village owns. The consensus of the Village is to entertain his offer.
DEPARMENTAL REPORTS:
- Police: Chief McLean gave her monthly report. She is in discussion with Ellsworth Community Schools to change speed limits in that area. She and Spearing are looking at grant opportunities for funds to construct a building which would contain an office for the police department and also provide additional storage for the DPW. The traffic signs that were ordered last month have been installed. Also discussed data that has been obtained from the radar signs.
- Streets: There was an accident within the Village limits that broke off a fire hydrant. The accident was not reported to law enforcement, but Chief McLean is working on trying to track down the person responsible for the damage.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
- Planning Commission: No activity at the present time.
- DDA: Recently participated in a planning session.
- Finance Committee: Next year’s budget meeting will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at 7:00 pm.
DISCUSSION:
- Wooden Shoe Holiday Festival – Will not be held this year. Will do a tree lighting by Citizen of the Year, Janet Rasmussen, and have a short article in the newspaper.
- Noise Ordinance – Working with our attorney.
- Township Clean Up Day – Will be determined by Banks Township at their meeting this month.
- State of the Community – Will be held January 12, 2022, at 6:00 pm at the Township Hall.
- RRC Update – In process.
- Sewer project update – Application will be submitted January 2022.
- Community Park Pavilion Rental – Discussion to increase rental from $100.00 to $125.00 a day effective January 1, 2022.
- Pine Lake Winds – Will present a Christmas concert at Banks Township Hall on December 21, 2021, at 6:30 pm Hot chocolate and cookies will be served.
ACTION ITEMS:
- Motion by Boss, Palajac to approve the budget amendments. CARRIED 5-0
- Motion by Spearing, Campbell to approve increasing Community Park Pavilion rental from $100.00 to $125.00 a day effective January 1, 2022. CARRIED 5-0
- Motion by Sowers, Boss to pay the bills. CARRIED 5-0
- Motion by Campbell, Boss to adjourn at 7:50 pm. CARRIED 5-0
