Meeting called to order by Campbell at 7:00pm
- Motion by McCallum, Sowers to accept the regular minutes of November 13, 2023, as presented. CARRIED 7-0
PUBLIC INPUT: County Commissioner Rubingh gave the 2022 annual report regarding felonies and misdemeanors for the Village of Ellsworth.
DEPARMENTAL REPORTS:
- Police: The radar signs have been taken down for the winter season.
- DPW: The paving has been completed.
- Streets: N/A
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
- DDA: Recently held a retreat and held a discussion looking forward to the future.
- Planning Commission: Did not meet.
- Parks and Recreation: Discussion regarding the Director position.
- Finance Committee: Next year’s budget meeting will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 6:00pm.
DISCUSSION:
- Weapon Ordinance – Reviewed guidelines for a new ordinance regarding weapons in the Village of Ellsworth.
- Wastewater project – Ongoing
- Hydrology Study – Bellaire Dam – Ongoing
- Township Clean Up Day – Not scheduled yet.
- Park Street – Reminder concerning street parking during winter hours.
- Committees for 2023-2024 – Council discussed what members would like to be appointed to which Committee for the 2023-2024 year.
- Community Park Pavilion Rental – Will not increase rental fees for 2024.
- Police Department – Discussion regarding an office building and a garage for the Police Car.
ACTION ITEMS:
- Motion by Spearing, McCallum to approve the budget amendments. CARRIED 7-0
- Motion by Bennett, A. Drenth to approve the meeting procedures. CARRIED 7-0
- Motion by Spearing, Dhillon to approve the rental fee of $125.00 a day for the Community Park Pavilion for 2024. CARRIED 7-0
- Motion by Spearing, A. Drenth to approve Committees for 2023-2024. CARRIED 7-0
- Motion by Bennett, Sowers to approve submitting a seed grant to Rotary Charities to obtain funds to allow the Village to hire a consultant to help with the submission of an application for funds to apply for a grant to update parks within the Village of Ellsworth. CARRIED 7-0
- Motion by Sowers, McCallum to pay the bills. CARRIED 7-0
- Motion by Bennett, Campbell to adjourn at 7:55pm. CARRIED 7-0
