REGULAR MEETING

BANKS TOWNSHIP HALL

Present: Campbell, Dhillon, A. Drenth, Sowers, Spearing, McCallum and M. Drenth

 

Absent: Potter

 

Others: Police Chief Byrd, Jarris Rubingh, Jemima Rubingh, Betsy Randall, Jerry Rasmussen and Mike Bennett

 

Meeting called to order by Campbell at 7:00pm

 

  1. Motion by McCallum, Sowers to accept the regular minutes of October 9, 2023, as presented. CARRIED 6-0

 

PUBLIC INPUT: 

 

  1. Discussion regarding firearms being discharged within the Village Limits.  There will be notices posted and a reminder printed on water bills saying: No Hunting or Discharge of Firearms Within Village Limits.

 

DEPARMENTAL REPORTS: 

 

  1. Police: Chief Byrd gave a list of repairs the Police Car needs.  Discussion followed regarding a substation for the Village of Ellsworth.

 

  1. DPW: EGLE DWSRF FUNDING – Has been resubmitted.

 

  1. Streets: The paving has been completed for this year.

 

  1. DDA: Will have a retreat on Monday, November 20, 2023.

 

  1. Planning Commission: Did not meet.

 

  1. Parks and Recreation: N/A

 

DISCUSSION:

 

  1. Community Christmas Tree – The lights have been put on the tree.
  2. Wastewater project – Still in process.
  3. State of the Community Meeting – has not been scheduled at this time.
  4. Woodenshoe Holiday Fest 2023 – Has been cancelled.
  5. Committees and Rosters – Will remain the same except for new Trustee Michael Bennet replacing Phil Palajac who has moved from the area.
  6. Playground equipment – We have received a grant from Great Lakes Energy Peoples Grant Fund in the amount of $5,000.00. The grant was written by Spearing.
  7. Track – We have received a grant from Grand Traverse Track in the amount of $13,500.00 to resurface our track located at the Sports Field. The grant was written by Spearing.
  8. Hydrology Study – This is an ongoing study.

  1. Motion by McCallum, Dhillon to appoint Mike Bennett to fill the open trustee position. CARRIED 6-0

 

  1. Motion by Spearing, McCallum to approve the budget amendments. CARRIED 6-0
