VILLAGE OF ELLSWORTH COUNCIL MINUTES

REGULAR MEETING

BANKS TOWNSHIP HALL

MAY 8, 2023

 

 

Present: Campbell, Spearing, Palajac, Sowers, A. Drenth, Dhillon and Drenth

 

Absent: McCallum, Potter

 

Others:  Jerry Rasmussen, Tex Drenth and Jacob Byrd

 

Meeting called to order by Campbell at 7:30 pm.

 

  1. Motion by Campbell, Dhillon to accept the April 2023 Minutes as presented. CARRIED 6-0
  2. Motion by Spearing, Palajac to accept the April 10, 2023, Special Meeting minutes as presented.CARRIED 6-0
  3. Motion by A. Drenth, Sowers to accept the April 27, 2023, Special Meeting minutes as presented.CARRIED 6-0
  4. Motion by Palajac, Dhillon to approve the resolution adopting the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Project Planning Document For Year 2024 for Well and Storage Tank Improvement.CARRIED 6-0

 

PUBLIC INPUT:  Discussed speeding on C48 within the Village.

 

DEPARMENTAL REPORTS: 

 

  1. Police:Chief Byrd informed Village that there is a new Inventory Search Policy.
  2. Streets:Discussion regarding what streets are in need of repairs.
  3. DPW:Tex Drenth informed Council that he will not be renewing his water license June 2024. He plans to retire in April 2024.

 

 

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

  1. DDA:They are setting up Concerts in the Community Square to run each Wednesday from June 28, 2023, through August 4, 2023.
  2. Planning Commission: Did not meet.
  3. Parks and Recreation:Woodenshoe Campground will open May 15, 2023.  Discussion regarding the summer recreation program.

 

DISCUSSION:

 

  1. 2023 Pig Roast June 17 and 18 – moving forward.
  2. 2023 Fireworks – July 3, 2023
  3. Breezeway Garage Sale – May 26 and 27.
  4. Chicken/Poultry/Etc. – A. Drenth will talk to the residents that have a conflict regarding free range chickens.
  5. Paddle Antrim September 14-16 – moving forward
  6. Auditors for the 2022-2023 year – May 30 and 31.
  7. Cleanup Day – May 13 from 8:00am to 11:00am.
  8. Delinquent water bills – Letters have been mailed to owners/renters.
  9. Labyrinth – Spearing will go forward with Pine Hill Nurseries asking them to prepare a written proposal on cost to clean up and maintain the labyrinth.

 

 

 

 

ACTION ITEMS:

 

  1. Motion by Dhillon, Palajac to approve contributions to the Pig Roast in the amount of $500.00 and to the Fireworks in the amount of $1,000.00. CARRIED 6-0

 

  1. Motion by Sowers, Campbell to approve the Budget Amendments. CARRIED 6-0

 

  1. Motion by Dhillon, Spearing to approve the ZBA By Laws. CARRIED 6-0

 

  1. Motion by Sowers, Palajac to pay the bills.CARRIED 6-0
