REGULAR MEETING

Present: Campbell, Dhillon, A. Drenth, Sowers, Spearing, McCallum, Bennett and M. Drenth

 

Absent: Potter

 

Others:  Jacob Byrd, Jarris Rubingh

 

Meeting called to order by Campbell at 7:00pm

 

  1. Motion by McCallum, Sowers to accept the regular minutes of November 13, 2023, as presented. CARRIED 7-0

 

PUBLIC INPUT: County Commissioner Rubingh gave the 2022 annual report regarding felonies and misdemeanors for the Village of Ellsworth.

 

DEPARMENTAL REPORTS: 

 

  1. Police: The radar signs have been taken down for the winter season.

 

  1. DPW: The paving has been completed.

 

  1. Streets: N/A

 

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

  1. DDA: Recently held a retreat and held a discussion looking forward to the future.

 

  1. Planning Commission: Did not meet.

 

  1. Parks and Recreation: Discussion regarding the Director position.

 

  1. Finance Committee: Next year’s budget meeting will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 6:00pm.

 

DISCUSSION:

 

  1. Weapon Ordinance – Reviewed guidelines for a new ordinance regarding weapons in the Village of Ellsworth.
  2. Wastewater project – Ongoing
  3. Hydrology Study – Bellaire Dam – Ongoing
  4. Township Clean Up Day – Not scheduled yet.
  5. Park Street – Reminder concerning street parking during winter hours.
  6. Committees for 2023-2024 – Council discussed what members would like to be appointed to which Committee for the 2023-2024 year.
  7. Community Park Pavilion Rental – Will not increase rental fees for 2024.
  8. Police Department – Discussion regarding an office building and a garage for the Police Car.

 

 

 

 

 

ACTION ITEMS:

 

  1. Motion by Spearing, McCallum to approve the budget amendments. CARRIED 7-0

 

  1. Motion by Bennett, A. Drenth to approve the meeting procedures. CARRIED 7-0

 

  1. Motion by Spearing, Dhillon to approve the rental fee of $125.00 a day for the Community Park Pavilion for 2024. CARRIED 7-0

 

  1. Motion by Spearing, A. Drenth to approve Committees for 2023-2024. CARRIED 7-0

 

  1. Motion by Bennett, Sowers to approve submitting a seed grant to Rotary Charities to obtain funds to allow the Village to hire a consultant to help with the submission of an application for funds to apply for a grant to update parks within the Village of Ellsworth. CARRIED 7-0

 

  1. Motion by Sowers, McCallum to pay the bills. CARRIED 7-0

 

  1. Motion by Bennett, Campbell to adjourn at 7:55pm. CARRIED 7-0
