Meeting Minutes
Meeting was called to order at 5:01 p.m. by Mary Faculak, Chairperson.
• Members Present: Faculak, Palajac, Randall, Waterman, Spearing, Campbell, Sundelius,
McCallum
• Members Absent: Swailes
Others Present: Pastor Chris Wallace
Approval of the Agenda:
A motion to approve the agenda was made by Waterman and seconded by Randall.
Motion carried by unanimous consent.
Approval of the Minutes:
A motion to approve the minutes from the September 26, 2022 meeting was made by
Campbell and seconded by Randall.
Motion carried by unanimous consent.
Treasurer’s Report (Ginny McCallum): There is $16,701.00 presently in the account. The
budget control sheet was passed out.
A motion to accept the Financials was made by Waterman and seconded by McCallum.
Committee Reports
Wayfinding Signs: Spearing reported that the DDA has received a grant for $1500 for
Wayfinding. We now have $4,256.35 to use for this purpose. Spearing has a proposal from Pro
Image for which we have ample funds. The signs will be installed in the Spring. The logo is
being worked on. Waterman made the motion to move forward with Wayfinding plans and it
was seconded by Sundelius.
Wooden Shoe Holiday Festival December 7: It was suggested that The Wooden Shoe
Festival be scaled down to a tree lighting, music by Pine Winds Band, hot chocolate and
cookies. The name has been changed to Ellsworth Community Christmas on the Square. The
time will be 6:00 p.m. on December 7. The citizen of the year will light the tree.
Trunk or Treat: Spearing handed out a sheet with the schedule of events. The word needs to
get out. Campbell will look into getting bistro lights to light the pavilion. A site plan will be
drawn up. There will be a meeting at 3:00 p.m. on October 31 at the pavilion to shore up final
details.

Village President’s Report (Hugh Campbell): The sewage project has been accepted. He is
hoping for a 75% grant. The Village has sold the old dump property. The Elk River Chain of
Lakes model report is out. Our policeman (Ben) will be leaving to go to Dearborn. There are still
T-shirts to be handed out to those who donated to the Square. Spearing said we need a plan to
let those who didn’t receive their donation know that they can pick them up. Spearing
suggested we do welcome packets for new residents. Campbell needs an invoice from the
catering company for the Community Square reception. Faculak will be available to meet with
anyone who would like to start a business in Ellsworth.
Chair Update (Mary Faculak): Reminder: Business After Hours on October 27 at Royal Farms
from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments and cash bar. Save the date: Holiday Business After
Hours on December 5, location TBD. Pumpkin Walk is a fundraiser that will take place on
October 27 & 28. Our November meeting will be a retreat. This will be November 28 from 4-7
p.m.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Sundelius and was seconded by Waterman at
6:09 p.m.
Motion carried by unanimous consent.
The next meeting will be a retreat on November 28, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The
Front Porch Diner.
