VILLAGE OF ELLSWORTH DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY

Monday, July 25, 2022
5:00 p.m. at Banks Township Hall, Ellsworth

Regular Meeting

Meeting was called to order at 5:02 p.m. by Mary Faculak, Chairperson.

  • Members Present: Faculak, Waterman, Spearing, Campbell, Swailes, Palajac

  • Members Absent: Sundelius, McCallum

    Others Present: None

    Approval of the Agenda:

    A motion to approve the agenda was made by Waterman and seconded by Randall. Motion carried by unanimous consent.

    Approval of the Minutes:

    A motion to approve the minutes from the June 27, 2022 meeting was made by Campbell and seconded by Swailes.
    Motion carried by unanimous consent.

    Monthly Reports

    Treasurer’s Report – A finance sheet was passed around for the membership to look at in McCallum’s absence. We went over the report. Revenue being $12,094.66. Disbursements being $2,740.90. Balance being $9,353.76. Waterman accepted the Treasurer’s report and Campbell seconded.

    Strategic Plan (John Iacoangeli) – John was unable to attend the meeting tonight. The strategic plan report was passed around for the membership to look through. This report is on the Village website and will be put on the Chamber website as well. The DDA Board will look at the action items and be prepared to discuss them at the September meeting.

    Committee Reports

    Concerts on the Square: They have gone very well. The participation is growing.

    Community Square Reception: The music is set. EJ Catering will be providing the food. We are expecting around 100 to 150 people. Waterman offered her tent to put over the food. The invitations are out. Spearing has flyers to put up as well. DDA board members will need to help handing out the gifts to donors. Chairs and tables will be needed for the band and the food. Waterman can offer two tables. Plastic covering will be needed to cover the tables. Spearing and Waterman can offer the table coverings. Campbell and Waterman will assist Spearing on loading the tables and delivering. DDA members should be at the reception by 4:00 p.m on August 10. Faculak encouraged us to get lunch at 1:00 p.m. that day and then go to reception. 5:00 p.m. is ribbon cutting. At 5:30 p.m. food will be served and the program starts at 6:00 p.m. Campbell will be the presenter. Name tags will be needed for the DDA board members.

 

Faculak will bring the name tags. The gifts for donors are t-shirts, custom tiles, and gift certificates. We will ask the Historical Society to have a table at the reception. If it rains, it was discussed that we rent the township hall. Campbell will talk to the scheduler to see if that it is a possibility.

Village President’s Report (Hugh Campbell) – Campbell reported that the sewage package has been sent. Now we wait to see how much money will be given. Wooden Shoe attendance has gone down with cancellations.

Chair Update (Mary Faculak) – Congratulations to the Village of Ellsworth for getting on the cover of the Michigan Municipal magazine. Paddle Antrim plans are all set. The numbers for the event are down.

Board Member Updates – Swailes reported that the Ellsworth Farmer’s Exchange Co-op is moving in a positive direction.

Motion to adjourn at 6:20 p.m. was made by Waterman and seconded by Randall. Motion carried by unanimous consent.

The next regular meeting will be held September 26, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. at Banks Township Hall located at 6520 Center Street, Ellsworth 231-588-7411.
